Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Regional Programme Security Dialogue for East Africa
Climate change causes cascading risks that affect various sectors such as water, food and land, energy, and governance. These risks must be mandatorily taken into account in decision-making processes in diplomacy, security, and development.
adelphi provided students and young professionals from 8 African countries with in-depth insights into the topics of climate, peace and security - both regionally and globally. This was achieved through interactive and playful methods that enabled the participants to independently develop political solution strategies for various challenges, for example in the context of a simulated meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UN) or through further group exercises.
The overarching goal was to strengthen regional competencies and enable prospective female diplomats to deal critically with the risks exacerbated by climate change and the resulting scope for action at an early stage.
The training program comprised an online preparatory course with webinars and homework as well as a multi-day face-to-face seminar. adelphi developed a training concept specifically tailored to the target group and implemented it in close coordination with the client. adelphi was also responsible for the content and moderation of the digital preparation course, including the supervision of the participants. In addition, adelphi was responsible for the planning and implementation of the final seminar.
