Ariadne focuses on exploring strategies for Germany’s energy transition, examining their systemic impacts and cross-sectoral interactions. The project evaluates policy tools to determine how climate targets can be achieved efficiently and equitably, while identifying the governance structures and institutions necessary for effective climate action. Ariadne not only tackles the complex decision-making challenges faced by policymakers but also sparks debates with stakeholders and actively involves the public. The success of the energy transition relies on a shared learning process. To develop strategies that are both impactful and socially acceptable, the project brings together representatives from government, industry, and civil society right from the start. This collaborative approach helps shape actionable measures and practical options for policymakers.
Throughout the project, Ariadne shares its findings and insights via policy briefs, thematic dossiers, background papers, visualisations, and interactive tools. adelphi research plays a key role by designing and facilitating dialogue formats on industrial and heating transitions, as well as on climate foreign policy. These dialogues provide a platform for discussing research findings with stakeholders from politics, business, and civil society. adelphi research is also actively involved in the annual policy workshops, which create a space for collaboration between Ariadne, other research initiatives, and political practitioners.
